New tweenMachine developer: Wade Schneider

My tweenMachine tool has had a long and slightly bumpy history.

After turning over development to Alex Widener in early 2018, I had high hopes for its continued development and growth. However, aside from having a GitHub repo created for it, not much else was done. I kept checking back periodically to see if there was any progress, but sadly there wasn’t. Then in mid-2021, Alex’s repo was officially put into archive (read-only) mode. Even though it’s been forked a number of times, I wasn’t aware of anyone who really wanted to move it ahead.

Fast forward to August of 2022, when I was approached by Wade Schneider, an animator/developer who expressed a strong interest in taking the reins. He was so proactive, in fact, that his fork had already been updated to make tweenMachine compatible with Python 3.

With that, I hereby proclaim that Wade Schneider is now the official developer of tweenMachine for Maya. (If you’re not a coder and GitHub freaks you out a little, Wade has also made it available to download a little more easily—and still for free—on Gumroad.)

If you’d like to express your thanks to Wade for his efforts, you can find him on Facebook, and on various art and animation Discord servers under username OfficiallyMaize#4627.

Thank you, Wade!

  1. Thank you Justin! I am thrilled to be apart of such a great tool and endevour to make the best out if it for all that use it, Thank you for such a great write up! I appreciate the help to push the tool back out to users by publishing this. This was only made possible by your own hard work and would like to show recognition for that effort. Now and forever forward this tool will always retain its free to use license under my github, You may see this tool also intergrated with other tools in the future as well! Which looks like an exciting future for this tool. Thank you !

Thanks a lot for your efforts on keeping alive tween machine. We really appreciates it. I’m still using the python 2.7 tween_machine but it crashes maya 2019-2020 when I use it on a windows 11 machine. did you get that issue before?

    1. This is Justin, not Wade. 😁 I’m sure Wade would love to have your support! Check the post for a link to his Facebook profile.
