Brand Me Big

A short while ago I was contacted about narrating a demo video for a new business called Brand Me Big. The site went live not long ago, and shortly thereafter the demo video was up and running. For those who may have trouble playing it from their site, here’s the video via YouTube. Update 10/26/2013: Brand Me Big no longer exists.

Magma Madness

Here’s the latest fun with my buddy, Pterry!

Getting Into Character

What does it take to get into character before recording? Quite a bit if you use Scottish voiceover artist Charles Nove‘s recent experience  (which he shared on the VO-BB) as a guide. He must have a lot of cats by now.

Snow? In August?

There’s no snow in Texas, but there’s a new Webosaurs “Snowball Skirmish” video featuring my vocal alter-ego, Pterry the pterodactyl. Also check out Pterry in the “Dino Dig” promo, also released today.

Networking

I love it when Bob Souer talks about his work.  I learn something from his comments every single time, like in this post where he answers a question about networking and “getting out there”.  Brilliant thoughts, Bob!

Are You Pumped?

The other morning I got up early for a bike ride.  I remember that the tires felt like they were low on air the last time I rode, so I pulled out the ol’ pump and connected it to the back tire.  Sure enough, the pressure was way below the recommended level.  A few quick pumps later and it was back to normal, and IRead More »Are You Pumped?

Introducing Pterry

Just got word that the next pair of Webosaurs vignettes have been released, and one of them (the first one you see below) features my vocal alter-ego, Pterry the pterodactyl. The other three lead characters — Horns, Rexxy, and Stretch — are voiced by the project’s art director, Justin Harder. In related news, I’m nearly finished with my VO web site, and will have theRead More »Introducing Pterry

First Commercial Demo!

[audio:http://www.justinbvocal.com/audio/demos/JustinBarrett_Commercial.mp3] My first commercial demo was completed a few weeks ago, and oddly enough I’ve been struggling to find the time to sit down and post about it here.  I really like how it turned out, and am particularly happy that I chose Ben Wilson as my demo producer.  His production prowess and expert guidance through the recording session made the whole process a joy. Read More »First Commercial Demo!

Beware of Epic Fluff!

My wife is pursuing a Masters degree in Music Education, and it’s interesting to see how her view of certain types of music is affected by the things she’s picking up in her classes.  While driving home after her last class yesterday, she was listening to a strong orchestral-choral track from an album full of music composed specifically for film trailers.  She later told meRead More »Beware of Epic Fluff!

Remember to Bring Yourself!

I just ran across a fascinating example of interactive multimedia.  The thing that kills me is that I didn’t know that it was interactive until the “show” was almost over. It might have helped if I could read the text used throughout the piece.  I have a hunch that somewhere on the splash page are simple instructions that explain how visitors can play a partRead More »Remember to Bring Yourself!
